A Little Somethin Jacket

What better way to spend your St. Patty's Day that making this great jacket for Spring.  Breeze into the season in this carefree layer of pure casual elegance! The jacket has a slightly flared 3/4 length sleeve or full-length sleeve and is designed to move easily from work to weekend. The front edge is self-faced. Just fold, press, stitch for quick easy construction. This is truly a three hour project! Whether 22.5in or 25.5in finished length, this feminine silhouette is as comfortable as it is stylish! Sizes included: 8-24. We have made it twice from quilting cotton fabric.  It would also be gorgeous made from a linen blend, lightweight wool, flannel or even a lightweight canvas.  We don’t recommend using knit fabrics due to the collar which stands up at the back of the neck.

Supply List:

Sewing machine in good working order and general knowledge of operation.
Machine owner’s manual and machine accessories.
A Little Somethin’ Jacket pattern by CNT Pattern Co.
Fabric yardage as indicated on the pattern for your size.
Matching all-purpose sewing thread.
Optional-decorative thread for topstitching. (Sample has a triple stitch with 12 weight thread.)
Tape measure, sewing pins/clips, sharp fabric cutting scissors, removable fabric marker, seam gauge, spray starch (optional), and other general sewing supplies.
Serger if you own one.  (I will be bringing my personal serger with white and black thread.)

Pre-class Homework:

Determine your size if possible.  If you need help, make sure you are aware of your bust, waist and hip measurements.
Purchase the pattern and fabric.
Please wash and dry your fabric in the manner in which you will be laundering your finished garment.  (I do this on every garment I make.)  Press fabric if necessary.
I recommend using Pattern Ease to trace your size before cutting out your jacket.  This preserves your pattern in all sizes for later use.
Another option is to mark your pattern with a Highlighter on your size.  This really makes cutting easier.
