Gardenia Dress & Blouse
Join us for a new sewing class featuring the Gardenia Dress & Blouse pattern by The Sewing Workshop. In this class, you'll create either the dress or the blouse—your choice—while learning techniques for constructing the pattern's distinctive tucks, neckline, and finishing details.
Gardenia Dress
- Loose-fitting silhouette
- Falls below the knee
- Four waistline tucks with a tie detail create subtle shaping
- Open neckline with a partially sewn center-front tuck
- Neckline finished with bias binding
- Extended shoulder line finished with folded armhole bands
Gardenia Blouse
- Loose-fitting, hip-length style
- Features the same tuck and neckline details as the dress
- Slightly extended armholes finished with bias binding

- Sewing Machine - don't forget the power cord and foot pedal
- Sewing Machine Needles
- Fabric - See pattern for the requirements for your size
- Thread - coordinate with background of fabric
- Ball Point Bodkin - optional, but very handy
- Double Fold Bias Tape - or make your own with an extra 1/4 yard of fabric
- Any other notions you may need - pins, clips, seam ripper, scissors
Homework
You should come to class with your fabric cut out. The pattern is a loose-fitting dress that gets it's cute shape from the drape and tightening of the ties to the side, so measure yourself and go off the pattern size that is closest to your chest and hip measurements.Whether you choose the dress or the blouse, this versatile pattern offers elegant design details and comfortable wearability, making it a wonderful addition to your handmade wardrobe.
