KC Landmark Paper-Piecing Workshop



Paper Piecing of any KC Landmark pattern - Roasterie, Shuttlecock or Western Auto with Jenifer Dick
4-hour workshop | Confident Beginner-Advanced | Pick the pattern of your choice

Supply List
• Pattern of your choice – Roasterie, Shuttlecock, Western Auto or their unannounced new release
• Add-a-Quarter ruler, optional but highly recommended. A regular acrylic ruler works great too.
• A personal mat, personal iron, and ironing board are nice – bring them if you have them. If you don’t have
these, there will be irons and mats available in the classroom.
• Sewing machine - don't forget your foot pedal and power cord
• All your favorite sewing notions, i.e. scissors, rotary cutter, pins, etc.

Roasterie
• Fabric:
Large variety of scraps in blues and grays
(light, medium, and dark in each color family)
1/4-yard red prints or solid
1/8-yard yellow print or solid
1/8-yard silver print

Western Auto
• Fabric:
Large variety of scraps in medium and dark blues
and light to medium grays
1/2-yard red print
1/2-yard light red print

Shuttlecock
• Fabric:
Large variety of scraps in light to medium blues AND
greens and dark greens
Medium gray, tan print, and dark tan scraps
6 DIFFERENT light gray prints (large scraps) for feathers
Variety of medium to dark orange scraps
plus 1/4 yard for binding
Bright white solid (large scrap)

Before class
• Gather your fabric.
• Make sure your machine is in working order and you know how to use it!
• Snacks and water are always a good thing to have in class!

Note: Pre-printed paper piecing templates (printed on newsprint) will be provided. If you prefer to use a
different paper piecing paper, you’re welcome to print your own templates (included in the pattern) before
class.

Instructor: Jenifer Dick
Instructor Bio: Jenifer has been making quilts since 1993, when on a whim, she signed up for a beginning quilt making class at a Kansas City-area quilt shop. From that first stitch, she was hooked! Since then she has been making award winning quilts and writing patterns. Jenifer holds a degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She worked as an editor for 7 years before retiring to raise three children. In 2008, she began editing quilting books for Kansas City Star Quilts, where she edited 28+ books for authors such as Bonnie Hunter, Barbara Brackman and Betsy Chutchian. In addition to editing, Jenifer has authored five books: Grapefruit Juice and Sugar (2005), The Circuit Rider?s Quilt (2008), Quilt Retro (2011), Stories in Stitches (2013) and The Modern Applique Workbook (2014). She has had her work published in many other books and magazines. Her work has been hung at major quilt shows across the country including the AQS Show in Paducah, KY, QuiltCon and the Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival, where she won 2nd place in the Innovative category. She lectures and teaches applique and innovative piecing to guilds and at quilt shops across the United States.
