Maker Monday - Vintage Mug Rug/Mini Quilt
Do you have a family heirloom that you would like to save and use? This class is a perfect way to feature a favorite handkerchief or embroidery piece in a “Mug Rug/Mini Quilt”. The completed project is about 7 inches square. We will start with a feature piece and add strips of fabric and lace/trims/doilies to complete our “Mini Quilt” complete with binding. Learn basic quilting/piecing skills. Suitable for beginner quilters. Don’t worry if you don’t have any vintage linens or lace scraps. Michelle will bring some to share if needed.
Supply List:
Sewing Machine - in good working order (and don't forget your foot pedal and power cord!)
2 pieces of cotton or blend batting 8” x 8”
Quilt backing fabric 8” x 8”
2.5” binding strip 36” long
Feature piece to be cut down ( handkerchief, embroidery, doily)
Variety of Fabric scraps 1.5 -2” wide various lengths
Lace, ribbon, trims
Walking foot for sewing machine
Wonder clips
Disappearing ink marker
8.5 or 12 Inch square ruler ( we will have extra one if you don’t have one)
Rotary cutter
Any other favorite sewing notions
Pre-class Homework:
Good News! There is no homework. Just bring your sewing machine, supplies and an adventurous spirit!

Instructor Bio: | Michelle has been a quilter and crafter for many years. Her inspiration was her Grandmother Marie who was a master quilter. She worked as a Bernina instructor for over 9 years working with customers on using their machines to their full potential. Michelle has a particular fondness for repurposing vintage linens and loves to rescue these lovely pieces to be used and admired. |
