Eleonore Pull-on Jeans by Jalie Patterns

Ready to tackle pants, but unsure about all the details with waistbands, fly, pockets, etc.? We want to introduce you to the Eleonore pant in this class. This is a stretch pull-on jeans pant (long or cropped) with wide waistband. No tricky fly or waistband here and boy are these comfy!

Made with stretch denim or twill, the pant has:
Yoke, faux fly in the front, patch pockets in the back
Fitted through waist and hips, straight from the knee down
Very easy to turn into skinny jeans!
Mid rise - Top of waistband hits just a bit under the navel.

Fabric and elastic as listed on the pattern.

General sewing supplies such as sharp sewing scissors or rotary cutter, sewing pins, tape measure, thread, and sewing machine.  If you have a serger, I suggest you bring it to class to finish the inside seams of your pants. 

Stretch-friendly (not ball point) sewing machine needles and a stretch twin needle for decorative stitching on pockets, side seams and other seams.

Pre-class Homework:

Purchase fabric and supplies in advance.  The pattern instructs you to use a WOVEN fabric with 20% crosswise stretch.  I measured 10” of the fabric and stretched it to 12”.   I don’t recommend a knit fabric even if it is very stable.  The top stitching and “jeans” style details will look more professional on a woven fabric.

I recommend preparing your pattern prior to class.  This would include determining your size and tracing the pattern on a product such as Pattern Ease.  This will preserve the many sizes of your pattern so that you can make different sizes for children or if you want to try a different size on your next pair.  The pattern recommends basing your size choice on your hip measurement.  This worked perfectly for me.  I did cut the waistband just a bit smaller so that the pants would “hug” me comfortably.
